17 Held for Vandalism, Local Administration Stresses for Alternatives to Bandh

Police have arrested 17 persons including nine boys in connection with the vandalism during the Janakpur bandh called by Samyukta Madhesi Morcha. Protestors had vandalized motorcycle, ambulance, hotel and motorcycle showroom in yesterday's protest. The Madhesi Morcha refused to participate in the all-side meeting called by local administration to find alternatives to protest, stop using children, and make the protest peaceful. Sanjay Chaudhary of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum said that Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli proposed to find alternatives during the meeting attended by major political parties, bus entrepreneurs, Janakpur FNCCI and civil society.
