Rally held calling for communal harmony

A mass rally has been organized in Biratnagar on August 25 urging for restraint following the Tikapur incident of August 24. The rally, organized by Joint Neighborhood City Coordination Committee, chanted slogans as ending bandh and strikes once and for all, promulgating constitution on time and maintain communal harmony among others. It began from near Biratnagar Sub-metropolis and ended in a corner meeting at Budhhat Chok. The participants of the rally included businesspersons, traders, political leaders, CA members, intellectuals, academicians, doctors, journalists and human rights defenders. Similarly in Kanchanpur, an all-party meeting was called by CDO Bhojraj Shrestha on August 24. The meeting was attended by political party representatives, civil society representatives, human rights defenders and representatives of agitating Tharuhat supporters. A goodwill rally was taken out here today calling for maintaining social harmony and national unity. The peace rally was organized by the Peace Committee, Dadeldhura in the morning today under the theme – ‘We Nepalis, Our Nepal’. Hundreds of people including employees, locals, representatives of political parties and media persons participated in the rally. It passed through different parts of the town including Tufandanda, Bagbazaar and Khalanga.
