Cadres of Samyukta Madhesi Morcha have clashed with police as they attempted to defy prohibitory orders in Kalaiya on August 31. Police fired more than one dozen tear gas shells and fired in air after which the protestors dispersed. General Secretary of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal Ramsahaya Yadav sustained head injury in police lathicharge. 10 protestors including Yadav were injured in the incident. The protestors attempted to enter towards prohibited zone following a corner meet at Bharat chok. The local administration has declared some meters of Kalaiya-Birgunj road section comprising police office and district administration office 24-hour prohibited zone for indefinite period since August 26.
