Three people, including a police sub-inspector, were arrested following a minor scuffle with doctors at Patan Hospital on Thursday. The arrestees have been identified as sub-inspector Bijaya Silwal of Community Police Service, Naxal, and his friends Sambhu Kumar Silwal and Ram Kumar Khadka. Sambhu and Ram are not associated with the police department. The trio in their preliminary statement with the police claimed that their patient, Bal Mukunda Khadka, was not taken care of properly. Doctors said that they were manhandled by a mob called by the sub-inspector. Dr Sanjit Karki, who was hit by the wife of Khadka, said the mob were unnecessarily attacking doctors and nursing staffs despite providing adequate care. He said Dr Bimal Pandey and Dr Arun Bhattarai among others were also manhandled. “The patient is stable,” said Dr Karki, demanding security in the workplace. Deputy Inspector of Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, Daya Nidhi Gyawali said further investigations are underway.
