2015-09-13

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government, political parties, and agitating sides to address the current complex situation responsibly through the medium of meaningful dialogue and talks. A press statement issued following the NHRC's emergency meeting on September 12 urged all to resolve the dispute through dialogue. The statement issued by NHRC's chairperson Anup Raj Sharma said that it has been monitoring the incidents of human rights violations and situations following the protests, bandhs, indefinite strikes taking place in various parts of Tarai-Madhes for more almost one month. The constitutional rights body termed the lynching of APF ASI Thaman Bahadur BK by protestors as barbaric, saying that the incident is condemnable through human rights and humanitarian perspective. It urged the government to bring the culprits to justice by carrying out an impartial investigation into the incident.
