An elderly woman who was injured on Wednesday after being hit by tear gas shells fired by police during a clash with demonstrators in Tanahu passed away on Saturday night. A resident of Byas municipality-2, Sunimaya Shrestha,78, was walking when she was injured by the tear gas. A patient of asthma, Shrestha died while undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara. Shrestha is the second person to fall victim to the Damauli demonstrations, that have continued for two days over the mysterious death of a local student. A demonstrator Roshan Dura,18, a resident of Byas-1 died of bullet injuries on Friday night. Tanahu Bazaar continues to remain tense and shut. Schools have remained shut as well. A grade 10 student of Maharshi Bedbyas Sanskrit Secondary School in Damauli, Purna Bahadur Aley was found dead last Sunday.
