The District Court on September 17 has acquitted three persons who were held on the charge of gang-raping a 20-year-old woman. 23-yer-old Rajesh Kumar Shah of Jogmani Municipality-11, 18-year-old Bishal Rya of the same place and 40-year-old Chandan Yadav of Biratnagar sub-metropolitan city-3 were acquitted by the court. The accused were remanded in prison on May 3 by the district court on the charge of raping the victim at a hotel in Bheedetar of Dhankuta on April 6.
The court also ordered to release 33-year-old Punya Kumari Khadka alias Pramila of Dharan sub-metropolis-16 who was arrested on the charge of bringing the girl to the hotel. Police had filed a case of human trafficking and transportation against her. A case of rape was filed against the accused on May 5 after the woman filed a complaint against them at the District Police Office on May 4. Medical check-up of the victim was conducted at District hospital on May 3.
