Normal life in Deukhuri has been affected again after the Tharuhat/Tharuwan activists decided to resume general strike from Friday. Earlier the Tharuhat Struggle Committee had halted general strike in Dang for a few days citing the fall of different festivals. The protesters have resumed general strike since early morning on Friday. Transportation, market places and other services remain closed due to the bandh. According to ward police office Lamahi, only a handful of shops were open in the market. Tharuhat activists have been enforcing general strike in western Terai since August 12 demanding autonomous Tharuhat State in federal Nepal.
