(Update) 36-year-old Rasta Bahadur Rai of Chamjibung in Dhankuta Municipality-8 has killed his wife 32-year-old, Shanti Rai, on September 17. Rai hit her with split bamboo and strangulated her to death over a domestic dispute. The victim, 15-day post-partum, received bruises all over her body and had a severe injury to her left eye, said Inspector Dambar Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office. Police added that Rai killed her over the issue of giving birth to a girl child. The accused is absconding after the incident. Body of the deceased is kept at the District Hospital for post-mortem. Inspector Khadka said that legal action would be initiated after the family of the deceased file complaint the next day. Search for the accused has been intensified, police said. Three daughters of the deceased are under the care of her relatives.
