Schools vandalized for defying bandh

The student wing affiliated to Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party (Sharad Singh Bhandari) has vandalized five schools on October 11 on charge of defying the Madhes bandh. A group of about 50 students vandalized and pelted stones at the buildings of Sinha Public School, South Point School, Swarnim Boarding School, Scientific School and New Vision School. They also vandalized the gate and the bus with plate number Ja 1 Ka 298 belonging to South Point School, a teacher of the school Sanjog Karna said. He added that the school was attacked when it was closed. Gyanendra Jha, the central chairperson of the student wing- Madhes Samajadi Students Front claimed that the schools were peacefully asked to shut down and that there was no violence involved. Jha claimed that his organization was being wrongly accused. The schools are taking classes for grade 9 and 10 students though the schools remain officially closed. Jha claimed that they had asked the schools to suspend those special classes. Madhesi Morcha district coordinator Parameshwar Sah said he got information that some students had wrongly acted and added that the Morcha had asked all concerned to refrain from being violent. The schools remain shut there since the last 59 days. On this academic year, the schools have opened only for 45 days.
