Paddy factory vandalized, looted for defying bandh

A group has vandalized and looted Shree Ganesh Food Factory in Bahuarwabhatha VDC-7 along the Birgunj Pokhariya road section on October 17. According to the employee of the factory Jaakir Hussein, about 200 locals broke padlock in the main gate accusing of operating the factory defying the Madhes bandh. He added that they looted 150 sacks of paddy from the godown. Saying that the locals vandalized motorcycle (Na16Pa 7234), generator, threshing machine, furniture and other materials, he added that the vandalism and looting has incurred a loss of NRs 100,000. Police arrived at the site following information about the incident after which they ensued in a clash with the locals. Police lathi-charged the locals and fired 19 rounds of live bullets following the clash. SP Raju Babu Shrestha said that Nepal Police and Armed Police Force opened 19 rounds of fire to take back the paddy looted by the group. He said that the group made away with 20-30 sacks of paddy while the rest was returned to the factory by police. Meanwhile, a group has torched a truck in Adarshnagar of Birgunj today afternoon. The truck loaded with betel nut and parked in front of Manish Traders in Adarshnagar was torched by a group of about 12 persons, the eyewitness said. The arson has destroyed front part of the truck while the betel nut has not been damaged. District Police Office said that the search for those involved in the arson was on.
