Youth set on fire for allegedly smuggling petrol in Western Nawalparasi

Cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha have set youth on fire for allegedly trying to smuggle fuel at Sanai-9, Padari on Wednesday. Morcha cadres sprinkled petrol over, Ghirau Yadav, 30, of Pharsatikar, Rupandehi before setting him on fire, informed his paternal aunt. The incident occurred while Yadav, who had stayed overnight at his aunt’s house, was returning back to his home in his motorcycle, Lu 3 Pa 2017. Yadav has received severe burn injuries to his body and is receiving medical treatment at Prithivi Chand Hospital. The Hospital’s medical superintendent Rarul Hoda informed that Yadav is in serious condition. The motorcycle that Yadav was riding has also been completely destroyed by the fire. Locals informed that two of the group who set Yadav on fire have been apprehended. Of them, one has been identified as Rajesh Saithawar and the identity of another arrested is yet to be ascertained, said police. Nepal Police SP Nal Prasad Upadhayay said that they are searching for other assailants and an investigation is underway regarding the matter. Meanwhile, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum- Ganatantrik district Chairman Rabindra Yadav said that the incident was carried out by smugglers themselves and not by Morcha cadres.
