Locals protested after a passenger bus (Ra 1 Kha 738) killed an 18-year-old youth at Sharada Municipality-6 in the district on Tuesday. Police said Govinda Basnet of Tharmare-1 died on the spot after the bus hit him. Basnet was working as a helper in another bus (Ra 1 Kha 778). After the enraged protesters vandalised vehicle and showed demonstrations, police fired two round bullets into the air to take situation under control. “We were compelled to fire bullets into the air after the protesters showed violent demonstrations,” said a chief of temporary police station in Barala, Mohan Chand, informing that enraged locals obstructed Salyan-Rukum stretch along the Rapti Highway.
