Bibeksheel Nepali Dal staged a demonstration in support of the hunger strike of Professor Dr Govinda KC demanding fulfilment of Dr KC's demand and protection of his life at Maitighar on Friday, October 9.
Dr KC had started the hunger strike for the 19th time from Jumla on last September 14 demanding medical education reform. He has presented a six-point demand on medical education reform including equal access to free and quality education and health services, MBBS at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, education at Geta Medical College and Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, the establishment of hospitals and medical colleges in Province No. 2 and Gandaki Province and various remote districts.
There are daily demonstrations in support of Prof. Dr KC from various sectors. Talks were held between the government side and Dr KC's representative on Thursday, October 8 to reach an agreement on the demand.
