Twenty-six families of Majhibasti in Sanjeltar of Shikharpur in Melamchi Municipality-12 have been deprived of the agreement of the grant amount promised by the government for the reconstruction of the houses destroyed by the earthquake due to lack of land title deeds in their names. Fishermen have been occupying the land of Sanjeltar in the name of Rajendraman Talchabhadel and Kapil Shrestha in Nawalpur VDC for the past 65 years. According to local Muna Majhi, the fishermen have even applied to the District Land Reform Office to get Mohiani rights around 045/46 BS. According to him, the fishermen did not have any knowledge of the law at that time and did not even have access to the district. Bhubaneswar Lamichhane, District Coordinator of the Reconstruction Authority, said that some of the settlements did not have land title deeds in their names. He said that such incidents should be addressed from the central level. "We were living on barren land. However, the land has been registered by the Sahu of Nawalpur. We didn’t find out, ”said Lal Bahadur Giri, a local. According to him, a complaint has been lodged at the reconciliation center set up in the municipality. Uddhav Adhikari, district coordinator of the reconciliation center, said that the center would take initiative to solve the problem by holding discussions at the district level.
