Workers of Nepal Hydro and Electric Limited Butwal have started a strike since last Friday putting forth a 7 point demand before the Management Committee of the company. They have stopped all work at the company since Friday citing that they were forced to halt work as the Management Committee had ignored their multiple requests to address their owes.
The demands put forward by the workers include increase in salary by up to rupees 8 thousand to compensate for the inflation, continuation of other bonuses provided by the company, operation of a canteen inside the company, and risk bonuses amongst others.
Organizing a press conference at the company office on Thursday, Bhuwan Giri, All Nepal Industrial Labour Union chairman of Nepal Hydro Electric Limited accused the Management Committee of attempting to suppress the worker's demand citing that the company had not increased the workers salary since 2073.
