Security guards protest demanding implementation of the Labor Act

Security guards working in the province-1 staged protest on Thursday demanding immediate implementation of the Labor Act implemented by the government.

They have also submitted a memorandum to the Minister of State for Social Development Jeevan Ghimire. Security guards submitted memorandum under the leadership of All Nepal Security Workers Union No. 1 state.

They gathered in Biratnagar before submitting their memorandum. They complain that the minimum wage imposed by the government from July 17 has not been implemented yet.

Minister Ghimire make a commitment to initiate initiative to implement labor law in all industries and bodies by discussing and coordinating with all parties including industrialists.

There are 63 security companies in Province 1. over Five thousand employees are employed there. There are 29 security companies at Sunsari and 19 at Morang.

Rajkumar Malla, the coordinator of All Nepal Security Workers' Union Territory of province 1, said that there are 16 security companies operating from Kathmandu. According to him, the security guards employed in most security companies have not been paid WITH the minimum wage as specified by the Labor Act.
