Nurses of Lifeline Hospital located at Damak, Jhapa have started different agitation programs with various demands including professional rights.
More than a hundred nurses working in the hospital have been agitating since Sunday demanding different services, facilities. After the agitation of nurses in duty, the regular hospital services are affected. On Sunday, the agitating nurses submitted a memorandum to the hospital administration regarding their demands. Under the program of the protest, today morning the nurses demonstrated in the hospital premises carrying various placards and shouting slogans. Coordinator of the Formed Struggle Committee Melina Subba said that a pressure-based protest program was staged to get the demands of the nurses addressed. Coordinator Subba warned that they will not return to work until the demands are addressed. "The protest will not stop until the basic services of the nurses are provided," she said. The nurses in protest have demanded the points like nurses who were in the contract must be re-recruited, increment in salary, stop financial exploitation, treat all staff with dignity and arrange work according to the post. But the hospital administration has said that the demands of the nurses are not justified.
