Lalitpur Metropolitan Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a rape attempt. Two women have also been detained for helping arrange the girl. 

Police arrested Rohit Dhungana, Nirmala Sharma and Mina Rimal of Kathmandu on Friday, a day after the 18-year-old girl filed a complaint at the Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Range.

In her complaint, the victim has mentioned that she was introduced to Dhungana by her two friends Sharma and Rimal. They had ensured that Dhungana would provide her with a job opportunity at a consultancy firm in Kathmandu," said Deputy Superintendent Santosh Tamang of the Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Range.

According to police, following Dhungana's request to find him a girlfriend, the two women introduced the victim to him at a tea shop in Kathmandu. Dhungana then took the victim to a resort in Godawari on the pretext of preparing for a job interview and attempted to rape her.

"However, the victim managed to escape from the room. The resort staff later handed her over to her family," said DSP Tamang.

The arrestees will be presented at court on Sunday and demanding to keep them in judicial custody for investigating further and are currently held in Lalitpur Police Station, says police.
