Deputy Inspector of Police Devendra Giri is accused of physically assaulting Binod Chaudhary, a rickshaw driver at the Trinagar-Gauriphanta checkpoint in the far west. According to the victim, the Deputy Inspector asked for Rs.50 for the victim and when he was unable to give money to Giri, he was physically assaulted with batons and his hands were broken due to assault. Likewise, according to another rickshaw driver, Keshab Joshi, the armed police, tore his clothes and acted in an indecent manner.
According to the Rickshaw management committee, the incident was an injustice against Binod Chaudhary. According to the Deputy Inspector of Police Devendra Giri, he was only trying to manage rickshaw because he cannot let go of any rickshaw to cross the Nepal-India border and the Rickshaw drivers are charging a lot of money to the passenger.
