The contract teachers of Bardibas municipality staged a sit-in in front of the Bardibas municipality on August 8 demanding to extend their contract. The agitated employees submitted a memorandum warning to further stage various demonstrations if their demands were not addressed. The demonstration was supported by Nepal Teachers Federation Mahottari, the Integrated All Nepal Teachers Organization Bardibas municipal committee. The demonstrators alleged that the termination of the teachers was rather irresponsible act and an attack against the community school. 

The municipality's mayor, however, asserted that there was no legal provision for the extension of the contract employees and further stated that he had not fired the contract workers; rather, they had been terminated immediately in accordance with the terms of their employment agreement.
