Members of Dalit community have been denied entry to 117 days Mahayaga religious rite being performed in Prasauni rural municipality of Bara.

All the 101 couples participating in the Sitaram jap mahayagya hawan belong non-dalit community. Dalit leaders have accused that the main priest Atmaram Das had denied participation of dalit couples in the hawan saying that it would be inauspicious. 

The local authorities are meanwhile, silent on the issue.
