Bagmati, Chitawan, Madi

Victims of Madi bomb blast, one of the most infamous incidents from the insurgency era, have filed their complaints at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The Madi Incident Struggle Committee collected 57 complaints from the victims and submitted it to the officials at the TRC central office in Kathmandu. "We have filed complaints at the commission demanding to uncover the truth about the incidents and the perpetrators. We have also asked the commission to provide us with justice," said Krishna Adhikari, one of the people to sustain serious injury in the incident.

Significantly, the victims chose to submit the complaints at the TRC central office rather than sending them through the local peace committee in Chitawan district. The victims are critical about the local peace committee saying the then district in-charge of the Maoist party, Ghanashyam Dahal, is in the district peace committee. On June 6, 2005, a group of the then Maoist combatants had ambushed a passenger bus from Gobinda Basti to Bharatpur in Madi killing 39 innocent people on the spot and injuring 72 others. Among the injured, four died while undergoing treatment. According to sources, the victims have also named some Maoist leaders as perpetrators of heinous human rights violation in their complaints.
