Only few victims of Maoist insurgency file complaints in Lamjung

Eighty conflict victims have lodged complaints in Lamjung, responding to a call made by the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, and Truth and Reconciliation complaints of injustices committed against them during the Maoist insurgency. TRC and CIEDP had set a deadline of June 16 for the same, but few people have filed complaints. Of the total 80 complaints filed so far, 67 were filed with CIEDP. “ Although many people took the complaint form from us, only a fraction of them have submitted them,” said Kiran Lamichhane, secretary of the local peace committee. organizations had estimated that around 500 complaints would be filed before the deadline. As per the official data, 151 people died and 25 others went missing decade- long insurgency. Similarly, 110 people were injured or handicapped during the conflict, and 93 families were displaced. The other 123 families were robbed of their property and their houses were destroyed during the insurgency.
