Commission calls to lodge complaint for truth investigation of conflict incidents

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) called on the conflict victims to lodge their complaints at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Investigation for Enforced Disappeared (CIED) for the investigation of conflict era incidents. Murari Kharel, NHRC regional director of Nepaljung, has requested the conflict victims to lodge a complaint while speaking at the workshop program on the transitional conflict transformation justice process and the committee's role on June 17. The program was organized by the NHRC regional office of Nepalgunj. and Human Rights Protection and Legal service Center on June 17 in Khalanga. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has called on conflict victims to lodge a complaint till July 17 through the local Peace Committee. Director Kharel said that the commission has called on to recommend the action against those who were involved in a serious Human Rights violation and violation of the international Human Rights covenant during the conflict era. He added that it is essential for the Nepal government to investigate the fact and create social reconciliation as per international law. According to the Local Peace Committee of Pyuthan, there are a total of 561 complaints lodged till now and data shows that there are 727 victims according to secretary Kamal Thapaliya of Local Peace Committee. As per INSEC data, 110 people lost their lives during the armed conflict. He added that it is essential for the Nepal government to investigate the fact and create social reconciliation as per international law.
