Armed conflict victims on hunger strike

2018-12-13

Conflict victims are on strike at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu. Injured at the armed conflict, 38 years Narbir Damai is on indefinite hunger strike. Along with him, other disabled combatants of Maoist Civil War are on strike with various demands. Since a week, seven combatants are on indefinite hunger strike at Maitighar Mandala. On Monday night, police forcefully took them to Bir Hospital.

The protesters are agitated towards police's forcefulness. Unless their demands are met they are denying to have medicine and their treatment. Victim Padamraj Pariyar said," We fought to bring democracy, now when we became disabled who made us fight are neglecting us."

Victims' demands are to get medicines on time, incentives for living, free high school education for their children, employment opportunity, free check-up and treatment. The protesters are unwilling to break their hunger strike unless their demands are addressed.
