Clash between Police and Vegetable vendors while trying to close the Market in Mahottari

On Monday evening a clash broke out between Police and Vegetable vendors when the police tried to close the market after a large crowd gathered at the area where the prohibitory order was imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Under the command of the Police Inspector, the police have given multiple chances and warnings to the vendors to remove their market but the vendors have disregarded those warnings this forced the police to take strict actions. The vendors insulted the police and threw stones on them further escalating the situation. According to the Spokesperson of District Police Office Mahottari DSP Prakash Bista, during the clash, the police Jeep was damaged and 1 police officer injured his hand. Vendors involved in attacking the police were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, The vendors accused the police of throwing their vegetables, beating their children, and assaulting their women. On Tuesday morning Jaleshwor Bazaar was empty while the police tightened the ban.
