org SMS ALert: Kathmandu, Nanda prasad ko labarish sarirma adhaxhya ko dhyan aipugeko cha. Nepali Congress leader and CA member, Arjun Narshing KC has drawn the Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang’s attention towards the body of Nanda Prasad Adhikari which remains unclaimed even over a fortnight. Adhikari, of Phujel VDC-7, Gorkha had died on September 22 after being on hunger strike for 233 days demanding action against the killers of his younger son, Krishna Prasad Adhikari. Asking for time after the resumption of the parliament on October 9 following October 8’s five-point agreement among the three major political parties, KC asked why Adhikari’s body stilled lay unclaimed at the morgue. Accusing the government of failing to protect the life of Nanda Prasad, he said that the government had failed to honor him even after his death. “Mr Speaker, any deceased person should be honored but it was matter of great shame that the government had failed to ensure performance of final rites of a man who died during the silent protest”, KC said. He also questioned the Home Minister Bamdev Gautam’s claim that Nanda Prasad had asked for Rs 2 billion asking him why he did not reveal it before his death. Drawing attention of the Speaker Nembang towards to deteriorating condition of Nanda Prasad’s wife, Gangamaya who had begun the hunger strike with her husband, he demanded steps to save her life. Charging the government of non-action in saving Gangamaya, he said that his previous three attempts to draw the attention of the government towards their plight had gone unheeded. Krishna Prasad Adhikari was shot dead by the Maoists after abduction in Chitwan on 2004. Bibek Dhungan
