Various conflict organisations had staged a dharna in front of the Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO), demanding amendment in the selection process of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission for the Inquiry of the Disappeared Persons (CIDP members. A leader of conflict victims, Suman Adhikari, told THT Online that around 20 demonstrators received slight injuries as police personnel charged batons on them. “Police said we could not stage any protests there as it was a restricted zone,” Adhikari said, “However we managed to stay there for an hour.” Demanding review of the TRC and CIDP formation process, the victims have already submitted memorandums to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Narahari Acharya. Adhikari added that no one from the DAO came to address their protests. “We will hold discussion among various conflict victims’ organisations and launch new programmes on Friday,” he said.
