Kathmandu, Nanda Prasad ki srimati Ganga Maya le unko lash jalauna anumati diyenan. Ganga Maya has refused permission to the government to cremate her deceased husband Nanda Prasad Adhikari, who died while staging hunger strike demanding arrest of those involved in his son´s murder. Minister for Law Narhari Acharya had reached Bir Hospital, where Ganga Maya is receiving treatment, to request her for permission to cremate her Nanda Prasad. “My elder son will come to perform the last rites only after the government punishes the perpetrators," Ganga Maya told Acharya. "If you cannot arrest all those involved in my son´s murder, you may as well make preparations for my funeral.” Minister Acharya had informed Ganga Maya that the government has been trying its best to bring all the perpetrators to the book. He informed that the police have arrested all those allegedly involved in the murder of her son Krishna Prasad. “We have also sought help from the British government to deport one of the accused Rudra Acharya, who is believed to be staying in Ireland," Acharya informed Adhikari. Acharya, along with Attorney General (AG) Baburam Kunwar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal, Commissioner of the National Human Right Commission (NHRC) Sudeep Pathak, Acting Secretary at the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction Khuma Raj Punjali and human rights activist Charan Prasai had reached Bir Hospital to seek her consent. “One of the accused, who is outside the country, will be arrested soon. We have already begun the process to bring him back," said IGP Aryal. Interpol has already issued a Red Corner Notice for the arrest of Rudra Acharya. AG Kunwar informed Adhikari that all the accused have been presented before the court. “Those released on bail will be tried again at the appellate and the Supreme Court," assured Kunwar. Minister Acharya requesting the media to understand the sensitivity of the issue said the government cannot cremate Nanda Prasad until Ganga Maya gives her permission. He said the government can cremate only those bodies which remain unclaimed for 35 days. “In Nanda Prasad´s case, we have a family. We cannot cremate him unless his family gives permission," he added. Minister Acharya said Adhikari´s elder son Noor Prasad has not made any formal contact with the government. Demanding action against those involved in their son´s murder, Ganga Maya and her husband Nanda Prasad had begun fast-unto-death nearly a year ago. While Nanda Prasad died on September 22, Ganga Maya continued her hunger strike. She ended her fast only after Minister Acharya gave a written commitment to bring the perpetrators to book. Although Nanda Prasad died three months ago, his body is still kept at the central police forensic laboratory in Maharajgunj. The government had also promised that the last rites of Nanda Prasad would be performed in a dignified manner in the presence of government representatives. Adhikari´s son Krishna Prasad was murdered in Chitwan in June 2004 by Maoist insurgents accusing him of being an informant of the police.
