Kathmandu/Jan 3, Asahayog prati aayog dwaara dhanusa ko pramukh jilla adhikari ko aalochana. National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has grilled Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dhanusha, Krishna Prasad Dhungana, for not cooperating with the commission. The NHRC on Friday recorded Dhungana´s statement at the commission office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. The commission had asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to present Dhungana at the commission to record his statement over the issue. According to NHRC Spokesperson Mohana Ansari, the CDO ignored a team of the commission that had reached Dhanusha to inspect human rights situation in the district. “The commission had formally asked the CDO to be present at the regional office of the commission to brief on the progress in investigation into the Godar incident and overall human rights situation in the district. However, he didn´t cooperate with the team and didn´t attend any interaction with the NHRC team,” claimed Ansari. Ansari said that the commission would take further action if required. “It is the right of the commission to question government officials in the case of non-cooperation,” she added. The NHRC has been closely monitoring progress in the investigation into the extra-judicial killings in Godar, Dhanusha in 2003. On October 8, 2003, the joint command of security forces had arrested 11 youths from Janakpur. Six of the arrested were released the next day while Sanjiv Kumar Karna, Durgesh Lav, Jitendra Jha, Pramod Narayan Mandal and Shailendra Yadav were disappeared by the security forces. The government in July had handed over the remains of the bodies of those disappeared by the security forces and buried in Godar area four years ago to their families.
