Adhikari murder case in apex court

2015-07-03

A case concerning war-era murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha, has landed in the apex court. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday in the name of Ganga Maya Adhikari , mother of the then 19-year-old victim, and her late husband Nanda Prasad, after Hetauda Appellate Court released the culprits on bail. The plea seeks arrest of those involved in the murder and immediate verdict in the case. Nanda Prasad Adhikari, who had been staging a hunger strike alongside Ganga Maya at Bir Hospital demanding justice, died in September last year. Ganga Maya ended her fast but is still in Bir Hospital. She has warned of resuming a fast-unto-death if the guilty are not booked. Last week, the Hetauda court upheld Chitwan District Court’s order for hearing the case without remanding the accused, including Chhabi Lal Paudel, in judicial custody. In April last year, the Chitwan court had ordered bail for two Maoist cadres, among the 13 accused in the 2004 murder.
