National Human Rights Commission has stated that its serious concern was drawn toward the violation of right of deceased Nanda Prasad Adhikari to have his body cremated as per the religious and traditional rites. Dead body of Adhikari, who died while staging hunger strike demanding justice, remains lying at the morgue at TU Teaching Hospital. Issuing a statement on September 23, NHRC has called for an end to impunity calling the failure to provide him justice as its weakness. The statement signed by NHRC spokesperson Mohona Ansari calls on the government to take action against the perpetrators, to provide justice to victims' families and to implement the commitment made to the Adhikari family. Nanda Prasad died on September 22, 2014 while being on hunger strike demanding action against the killers of his younger son Krishna Prasad Adhikari. NHRC added that its monitoring found that even the health condition of Nanda Prasad's wife Ganga Maya is deteriorating. On April 5, 2008 NHRC had recommended for filing criminal charges against the perpetrators and providing compensation to the Adhikari family. NHRC statement reminded that it had written to the Office of the Prime Minister on August 12, 2013 to take action in Krishna Adhikari case.
