The Appellate Court (AC) has issued a mandamus to investigate the alleged killing of Jakaullah Nadap, 28, of Ramgopalpur VDC-1 in crossfire with police at Halkhori VDC-2. A joint bench of AC Judges Satya Raj Gurung and Meghnath Bhattarai issued the order on March 24 in the name of District Police Office, Mahottari to investigate the alleged killing of Nadap in the crossfire. Abdul Salam, father of Nadap had filed a complaint against the then SP Ram Prasad Shrestha of DPO on March 16, 2014, claiming that his son was killed extra-judicially. He had demanded an investigation into the incident and action as per the murder charge. He sent the complaint to the DPO through District Post Office after it refused to register the complaint. The DPO has registered this complaint in the category of accidental death. Father of the deceased had filed a writ at the Appellate Court, Janakpur seeking mandamus against the defendants. According to SP Shrestha, Nadap was killed in crossfire with police on the morning of February 2, 2014. Post-mortem of the deceased was conducted at Jaleswor Hospital the same day. His family had received the body three days later. The deceased had received bullet injuries in his chest and stomach. SP Shrestha said that Nadap died when police opened retaliatory firing as he started firing continuously after seeing patrolling police team.

Police said that one homemade pistol and its bullet, another gun and its bullets were recovered from the site. Earlier, the AC Janakpur, on November 4, 2014, had issued another mandamus order to investigate the killing of Mohammad Serajun Nur Mansuri, 25, of Badiyabanchauri VDC-2 in the alleged crossfire at Sonama.
